Seriously considering saving up for a scooter.

I’ve been doing a lot of research and I think I could really use one. 3 out of 4 seasons I could use it most of the time to run errands, go on short trips, and it’d be a good first step to owning a motorcycle. There is no need for a motorcycles endorsement on my license as long as I get one with no more than a 50cc motor (keeps it from going over 40mph or so). I would never ride a scooter on the highway anyway, so the low speed is fine with me. They have incredible gas mileage and would save me both money on gas and wear and tear on my car.

People hate on Chinese made scooter but after doing substantial research on them I’ve found that as long as you are willing to either do some simple work on it yourself or have a trustworthy shop do it as soon as you get it there is no reason it can’t be as reliable as any other brand. The biggest problems with them are loose bolts which simply need to be tightened, crappy oil which is easy to change, and occasional sub-par tires or tubing. Parts for scooters are pretty cheap, and even the Chinese ones are easy enough to find if you know where to look. I would probably find a great local shop to work on it at first, but ultimately I want to learn some of the basics of scooter and motorcycle maintenance as I plan to own both and don’t want to be entirely dependent on others. Buying a good Chinese scooter costs well under $1000, even with the initial maintenance to get it in good working order.  I’m not settled on a brand yet, I might not go with a cheaper Chinese one in the end, but for now it’s looking like a good starter option.

Once I get my overdo bills paid for and get a steady work schedule up and running I’ll have a better sense of how possible this might be to pull off.

Ok, so I know we all want David to carry it into the stadium, but I’m still glad Matt got to do this. He is still the Doctor after all, and it’s still a huge honor. Plus, he was a hardcore athlete so I’m sure this meant a lot to him.
